The ICC Champions Trophy schedule has been released and no Team India has been placed in the group of Death. In fact, it is the Australian Cricket Team who are placed in Group B will have a busy schedule. The Aussies have England, South Africa, and Afghanistan as the other 3 teams in their group.
Group A is relatively easy for the India Cricket Team. Rohit Sharma and Co will have to face New Zealand, Bangladesh, and Pakistan in their group-stage matches. But it will be a tough job for the Men in Yellow who have the Three Lions, Proteas, and giant killers Afghans to take care of in the group stage.
Group A – Pakistan, India, New Zealand, Bangladesh
Group B – South Africa, Australia, Afghanistan, England
Group of Death
There will be no replays or backup options for the teams. All the teams in Group B will face a daunting task when they take on each other in the group stage matches of the ICC Champions Trophy. A point dropped from any game means an advantage for the others.
So for the ODI World Champions, i.e. Australia it is a tough job. The rules for the group stage matches are fairly simple. Out of the 4 teams, only the top 2 will go on to qualify for the next stage. The top 4 from both groups will clash in the semi-finals and the winners will then take on each other in the finals.
