Top CSK rejects who could be star performers in IPL 2025

Since many big names who played a massive role for CSK in the past have now parted ways with the camp and are set to represent new teams, see top CSK rejects who could be star performers in IPL 2025.

Five-time champions Chennai Super Kings have released many big names before the IPL 2025 auction, and many other teams bought those players in the hope that they will perform just as well for them as they did for the yellow jersey. There’s no question about how important some of the big players CSK parted ways with. While they retained a few game-changers, some of the releases they made may turn out to be stars in IPL 2025. But who are those released CSK players we can expect to do well in IPL 2025? Let’s take a look at three quality ex-CSK players who could become star performers for their new teams in IPL 2025.

Deepak Chahar

The first and most important name we expect to do well is swing star Deepak Chahar, who will be playing for the Mumbai Indians this time. The five-time champions acquired his services with high expectations to deliver. We’ve seen how many times in the past he delivered for CSK, especially in how he controlled the first six overs of the game during the powerplay. He has been wonderful with his crucial deliveries, although injuries have pulled him out multiple times. He will look to avoid that this time and perform as much as he can. With 81 matches and 77 wickets at an economy rate of less than 8 as a pacer, it’s clear how important this player will be for MI in IPL 2025.

Ajinkya Rahane

One of the candidates to be KKR’s captain and one of the most reliable top-order batters, there’s no question about how impressive Rahane’s name is in the cricket circuit. Recent performances show how he transformed himself from a defensive batter to one of the most aggressive batters in the IPL. We’ve seen him play magical innings for CSK many times, surprising everyone with his aggressive approach, especially how he charged at bowlers in 2023. Playing for CSK, he smashed bowlers at a strike rate of 172, showcasing how he transformed himself. This time, we can expect him to do well for KKR, as he is no longer with CSK.

Mitchell Santner

Another CSK reject, Kiwi spinner Mitchell Santner, who is all set to represent the Mumbai Indians, five-time IPL champions, this time. Since MI doesn’t have the luxury of many overseas spinners, or even a strong spin unit overall, Santner is a key member of the squad. Apart from Karn Sharma, they don’t have much experience in their spin department, so we may see Santner playing over Karn Sharma more often. This makes Santner’s role in the playing XI crucial. While he always performed well with the ball for CSK, he also did an amazing job as a lower-order batter when needed. He is one of the most reliable spinners and enjoys playing on Indian pitches. Santner could perform wonderfully well for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025.
