One of the biggest questions ahead of Team India, before the MCG Test is – as to where will skipper Rohit Sharma bat? In the second and the third Tests of the IND vs AUS series, he let KL Rahul open the innings, and himself batted in the middle-order. But with series locked at 1-1, and given Rohit’s poor form, the think tank might just tinker with his order.
Rohit Sharma Doesn’t Reveal Batting Order
Till now Rohit Sharma has been poor beyond imagination, as is desperate to score runs. In the three innings in the series, he has managed to return with scores of 3, 6, and 10. Asked the same in the PC on Tuesday, the skipper wasn’t keen on revealing the team strategy though. “Let’s not worry about that. Who bats where is something we need to figure out within ourselves. It is not something I should be discussing at every press conference. Whatever it takes for our team to look good, gives us the best chance to succeed, we will ty and do that,” Rohit said.
All is Well With Shubman Gill
One of the larger issues that has been plaguing Team India has been, the form of some of the other Indian batters as well, including youngster Shubman Gill. Despite getting starts, the Punjab lad is yet to set the stage of fire. Rohit Sharma did not mince any words and said, “Both innings in Adelaide he looked pretty good, just didn’t go on to score a big one. I think he got 25-30 in both innings. I’m not going to look too much into Brisbane, got out second or third ball.
“You can’t look too much into it. But Gill has been one of our young prospects, who is coming up and playing really, really well. These tours can be challenging . It is the same thing, when some of these travel to India, it is hard for them as well. He is quality, we all know that. It is about giving clear message — like Jaiswal we don’t want to complicate too many things with him. He has scored many-many runs before coming into the Indian team, so he knows how to score runs.”
