In a blockbuster clash between Irfan Pathan and Suresh Raina, the Mumbai Marines triumphed, claiming their maiden title on December 22 by defeating the Southern Spartans by seven wickets. After receiving the award, Marines captain Irfan Pathan celebrated with a stylish walk towards his team, reminiscent of the iconic gesture made by Rohit Sharma during the T20 World Cup 2024.

Mumbai Marines clinch the title

The Big Cricket League (BCL) 2024 concluded with Irfan Pathan’s Mumbai Marines chasing down a target of 211 set by Suresh Raina’s Southern Spartans at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, Surat. Manan Sharma’s explosive 82* off 40 balls, supported by Jesal Karia’s 75 off 39, powered the Marines to victory. Pathan remained unbeaten on 18, steering his team to the win. Earlier, the Spartans posted 210/6, with Phil Mustard’s 78 and Raina’s 51 leading the charge. Despite regular wickets falling, Faiz Fazal and Abhimanyu Mithun contributed key runs, as Shivam Kumar and Manpreet Gony took two wickets each.
