Lucknow Super Giants no longer have a familiar batting line-up and will have a tall task at hand to figure out their best combination in IPL 2025. From finding a whole new set of openers to ensuring right positions for finishers, LSG won’t have an easy task and certainly won’t be able to confirm any player’s position with experimenting in few matches. But the team does comprise of a strong batting unit which features many overseas and Indian stars who are pinch-hitters.

Marsh-Markram opening combo for LSG
Both Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram have found their way to LSG after being released by DC and SRH respectively. While the duo are unfamiliar with the opener’s role in the IPL, they are no strangers to batting in the top-order, having done so in many international matches and other T20 leagues around the world. While the Australian all-rounder has opened the batting twice in the past in IPL, the South African star has never essayed that role in the past. Yet, the duo could turn out to be a destructive pair at the top. Previously, LSG had two experienced openers to start off the proceedings for the side in the form of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock. However, now they find themselves in a fix as they will have to take a gamble by fielding a new set of openers who are not actually specialist openers.
Player | Matches | Runs | Average | Strike Rate |
Aiden Markram | 44 | 995 | 30.15 | 129.73 |
Mitchell Marsh | 42 | 666 | 19.59 | 127.83 |
