India Women registered their second biggest win the 50-over format with a xxx-run win against West Indies in INDW vs WIW 1st ODI

A clinical performance from India women’s cricket team with both bat and ball in INDW vs WIW 1st ODI helped Harmanpreet Kaur and co register their second biggest win in the 50-over format on Sunday. A five-wicket haul from Renuka Singh saw WIW collapse in their run-chase as India picked up an easy win. Hayley Mathews and co. were no match for India’s might as they suffered a collapse in the 315-run chase. With this win, INDW have taken a 1-0 lead.

India smother West Indies in INDW vs WIW 1st ODI

Batting first, India’s openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal got the team off to a flying start with a 110-run partnership. While Smriti (91) narrowly missed out on a well deserved century, her opening partner Rawal (40) seemed to be in pretty good touch and played the role of an anchor successfully until the West Indies skipper managed to get a breakthrough. Harleen Deol (44) then took over the responsibility from Rawal after losing Smriti Mandhana shortly after the first wicket fell. A quick-fire 34-run knock from skipper Harmanpreet Kaur coupled with Richa Ghosh’s 26-run knock set the stage up for Jemimah Rodrigues for a perfect finish. The latter unleashed her fury on the West Indies bowlers with a fast-paced 31-run knock off just 19 deliveries to guide India to 314 at the end of 50 overs.

In response, West Indies women witnessed a batting order collapse in the run-chase that saw India pick up an easy win. Renuka Singh struck five times as she wreaked havoc on the top and middle-order, getting rid of the likes of Hayley Mathews, Deandra Dottin, Shemaine Campbell and others in quick succession. It took India Women just XX overs to bowl out the West Indies, registering a 211-run win. This win marks the second biggest victory in ODIs for India Women, with the first being a 249-run win against IREW in 2017.
