Oh, no! Rohit Sharma gets hit on left knee during nets at MCG, giving another freak injury scare

In 24 Test innings so far this year, Rohit Sharma has made 607 runs at an average of just 26.39, which is the lowest-ever for him in a calendar year (min. 350 runs scored).

IND vs AUS: In what has come as another unwanted injury scare for Team India, captain Rohit Sharma was hit on his left knee while batting in the nets. While facing India’s throwdown specialist Daya, Rohit took a blow and was instantly seen in discomfort. While he tried to continue batting for a bit but eventually decided to walk out.

Watch: Rohit Sharma gets an injury scare

As reported by journalist Sahil Malhotra, Rohit was batting during India’s second net session in Melbourne ahead of the Boxing Day Test match (December 26). Rohit was visibly in pain when the Indian team physio put an ice pack on the damaged area. The likes of Sarfaraz Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal also geared around Rohit, along with some other staff members.

While the blow might not be serious enough to rule Rohit out of the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test, it surely is unwelcomed. Yesterday, it was KL Rahul, who also had an injury scare, getting hit on his hand while batting. Everyone remembers how “dangerously” India began their training sessions for the BGT prior to the start of the series. The likes of KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan and Virat Kohli all dealt blows. Shubman Gill missed the entire opening Test due to a finger injury.

Talking about Rohit, the fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground becomes ever so crucial for him. After all, he has not scored enough runs. Forget about enough; Rohit has looked completely out of sorts, scoring less than the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep in the ongoing series. Rohit, alongside Virat Kohli, will be under scanner for sure.
