IND vs AUS 4th Test: Jasprit Bumrah’s record in Melbourne

Ahead of the India vs Australia fourth Test match, here are Jasprit Bumrah's records in Melbourne leading up to the Boxing Day Test.

India will travel to Melbourne for the 4th Test against Australia with the series level at 1-1. Had they been offered this scenario before the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India would likely have accepted it heading into the crucial fourth game. A major factor keeping India in contention for a series victory is their star pacer, Jasprit Bumrah. With 21 wickets in just three matches, he is the leading wicket-taker of the series.

India’s hopes of securing a win in the 4th Test heavily rely on Bumrah delivering another top-notch performance to help them gain an edge over Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Test stats in Melbourne

In the fourth Test, Bumrah needs to pick up five wickets to become the first bowler from India to take 20 at the MCG. The bowler now has 15 wickets at the MCG, and he can overtake Anil Kumble to become the Indian with the most wickets at the stadium with a wicket in the fourth Test.

Bumrah is also just nine wickets away from becoming the first Indian fast bowler to claim 30 wickets in a single Border-Gavaskar Trophy edition. The all-time record for most wickets in one edition of the series belongs to Harbhajan Singh, who picked up 32 scalps during the 2000-2001 series. With his current form, Bumrah stands a strong chance of surpassing Harbhajan’s milestone and etching his name in history.
