Rinku Singh understands he “needs to work hard” to fulfill Champions Trophy aspirations

Rinku Singh has played two ODIs for India in 2023 but isn't part of the main team right now.

Rinku Singh wishes to play in another ICC event for the India cricket team. After winning the T20 World Cup earlier this year, the southpaw wants to make the squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. As things stand now, Rinku isn’t on the team. But he’s not that far from it either.

Rinku Singh following his ‘God’s Plan’ mantra

Having made his debut last year in South Africa, Rinku got into double digits both times he was given a chance, but since then, Team India has played just one ODI series, and the finisher couldn’t make the cut. But he’s not lost hope. Rinku knows that anything can happen.

Asked whether the ICC Champions Trophy and a potential Team India return are on his mind, Rinku revealed that his plan is to work hard. He expanded on how he didn’t think he would play for India, but those five sixes in the final over to Yash Dayal changed that. As he often says, everything is “God’s plan.” That’s exactly what he’s going by. Rinku will continue to do the deeds without expectations.

“I believe in God. I didn’t even think of being part of Team India when I struck five consecutive sixes in the IPL last year. That turned out to be the biggest game-changer in my life. Even now I feel that if God has decided something for me, I will get that surely. But at the same time, I also need to work hard on my job,” Rinku Singh said before Uttar Pradesh’s Vijay Hazare Trophy opener against Manipur.
