Two days after he announced his decision to retire from international cricket, Ravichandran Ashwin has hinted at playing one last game. The Tamil Nadu spinner took the world by surprise by announcing his decision to hang up his boots right after IND vs AUS 3rd Test. However, the veteran has now managed to grab eyeballs, especially with his reply to Virat Kohli’s emotional farewell post on social media platform X.
Did Ashwin just hint at playing IND vs AUS 4th Test?
In his reply to Virat Kohli’s post on the former’s retirement, Ashwin claimed that he would “walk out to bat” with the star batter at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). It is to be noted that the spinner has returned to India already and has literally no chances of returning to Australia for the Boxing Day Test. Besides, Ashwin also has the knack of using words on social media to his favour and his message to Kohli could be something different altogether.

While Ashwin has had countless memories with the Indian team, the one instance he won’t forget at all is the IND vs PAK match at the MCG in the T20 World Cup 2022. While the former Indian skipper played the role of an aggressor in the run-chase, Ashwin made sure that he stayed calm and composed and guided the team across the line with his patience with the bat. The epic leave followed by the lofted shot that saw India home will never be forgotten by the fans.
Virat Kohli had posted an emotional farewell note for Ashwin following the latter’s retirement. A career that started in 2010, Ashwin saw many ups — along with winning the 2011 World Cup, 2013 Champions Trophy, and two-time finalist of the World Test Championships. It must be admitted that R Ashwin proved to be the most effective in Test matches, where he not only won numerous matches for India with ball, but with the bat as well.
