UFC superstar Conor McGregor has announced a high-profile boxing exhibition match against WWE and YouTube star Logan Paul, backed by India’s Ambani family. McGregor took to social media to confirm the news. He wrote, “The rumors of a bout with Topuria are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.” While Logan Paul hasn’t commented yet, the fight is expected to be officially announced soon.
Logan Paul’s Boxing Journey
Logan Paul started his boxing career with an amateur fight against YouTuber KSI on August 25, 2018, at Manchester Arena. The fight ended in a draw, leading to a professional rematch on November 9, 2019, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. This bout, fought without head guards, ended in KSI’s favour via a split decision, with Logan penalised for illegal moves.
One of Logan’s most talked-about fights was his exhibition bout with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather on June 6, 2021. Though it was a non-scored fight, Mayweather clearly dominated, landing 43 punches compared to Logan’s 28. In his latest fight on October 14, 2023, Logan faced Dillon Danis during the MF & DAZN: X Series 10—The Prime Card event. Logan won the match via disqualification, marking his first official victory in professional boxing.
Conor McGregor’s rocky road
While Logan’s boxing career has seen highs, Conor McGregor has faced challenges outside the ring. Recently, McGregor was in the spotlight due to a sexual assault case from eight years ago in Dublin. Despite these setbacks, this India-based exhibition match could be a fresh start for the UFC icon as he eyes a return to the Octagon.
