Rohan Jaitley will continue as the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President. He beat his competitor, Kirti Azad, comfortably, getting 1577 votes compared to the 1983 World Cup winner’s 777. As many as 2,413 votes were cast, and 1,207 votes were required to win. It was projected that Jaitley would win, and it ended up happening as he won by claiming twice the votes Azad did.
Azad’s corruption allegations on Rohan Jaitley
Before the DDCA elections, Azad had alleged that Jaitley was corrupt. Last week, he stated that the administrator was spending money granted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on everything other than cricket. This was after last month when he claimed bribes were being taken for selections.
“The DDCA gets Rs 140 crore from BCCI every year, approximately Rs 12 crore every month and Rs 40 lakh everyday. The grants that the association has been receiving have been mismanaged. There is no proper auditing of the books of accounts. Only Rs 7 crore was spent on cricket. Where is the rest of the money going?” Azad had said on December 10.
None of what he’d alleged has worked in his favour though. Jaitley, who’s been the DDCA President since October 2020, will continue in the position. Last time, he’d beaten Vikas Singh and now Azad.
