Naman Ojha backed Rohit Sharma amid Border-Gavaskar Trophy criticism, praising his class and urging fans to support Team India during tough times in Australia.

In the ongoing high-stakes Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Rohit Sharma’s captaincy has been under the scanner after some poor performances by the Indian team. First after facing a humiliating defeat in the Adelaide Test, the Indian team seem struggling again in the ongoing IND vs AUS clash in the Gabba, Brisbane. Former cricketers and cricket pundits like Ravi Shastri and Michael Vaughan have questioned Rohit’s on-field decisions. However, India’s ex-cricketer Naman Ojha remains optimistic about Rohit’s potential for a comeback. Naman Ojha is currently playing in the Big Cricket League in India for the MP Tigers.

On the sidelines of Big Cricket League, in a recent conversation with InsideSport, former Indian cricketer Naman Ojha shared his views on Rohit Sharma’s current form and captaincy.

Optimism amidst criticism

When asked about his thoughts on Rohit Sharma, Ojha expressed confidence in Sharma’s abilities. “There’s no question about that,” Ojha said, acknowledging Rohit’s contributions to Indian cricket over the past decade. He said that “form might be temporary, but Rohit’s class is permanent.”

Ojha went on to talk about Rohit’s caliber as a player. “We have seen all Rohit Sharma, how a match winner he is,” he added. Ojha strongly believes that Rohit’s innate talent and skills enable him to overcome any rough patch. Despite the recent dip in form, Ojha is confident that Rohit will regain his peak performance and continue to shine on the international stage. “we have seen all Rohit Sharma how a caliber where how you know how a match winner he is how a highly calibered player he is so he can come out of from any situation I mean that’s what I feel” he added.

Handling rough patches

Reflecting on the intense scrutiny players face, Ojha commented, “People start talking about your performance and career over a couple of innings.” He stressed the importance of supporting players during tough times, especially on challenging tours like the current series in Australia. According to Ojha, constant analysis and critique during a series might affect a player’s confidence. “We need to back our team and analysis will be done after this series not in between” he added.

Support and Love for Team India

Ojha concluded by urging fans and experts to withhold judgment until the series concludes. “We need to back our team, they are down on a difficult tour” he insisted. Ojha expressed admiration and love for the Indian team.
