After winning the Ranji Trophy and the Irani Cup, Mumbai has won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024-25 as well. They did this by beating Rajat Patidar’s Madhya Pradesh with rather ease at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After putting MP in to bat first, they managed to restrict them to 174. If not for Patidar’s brilliant knock, Mumbai would have had to chase a total under 150. Despite Shreyas Iyer and Prithvi Shaw misfiring, Mumbai chased down 175 with 13 balls to spare as Suryakumar Yadav and Ajinkya Rahane guided them, and then Suryansh Shedge finished things off in style.
