Matthew Hayden slams India for not going “hard” at Travis Head in IND vs AUS Test

Travis Head scored a century in Adelaide and then went on to repeat the same in Gabba

Former Australia great Matthew Hayden wasn’t happy at all with the India Cricket Team‘s strategy. He believed that Team India missed the plot against the southpaw. Hayden drew parallels between Head with Virat Kolhi claiming how great batters become comfortable on the pitch after settling in early.

Travis Head showed his true class when he notched up yet another century at the IND vs AUS 3rd Test in Gabba on Day 2. Coming on the back of 3 consecutive golden ducks, the Indians failed to consolidate on the fact and let Head get comfortable on the pitch.

Hayden unhappy with India’s strategy

“In conditions that tend to favor fast bowlers, I think they (India) missed the mark earlier for Travis Head. It is similar to Virat Kohli when he used to get into his zone and great players become comfortable. I think they could have had the opportunity of going really hard at Travis Head,” Matthew Hayden said during the tea break.

Matthew Hayden wasn’t very pleased with India’s planning. He claimed that India should have exerted early pressure on the batter. He explained how Bumrah and Co were far better in the first innings of the day where they scalped 3 early wickets.

But Travis Head settled down well with Steve Smith to first slam a fine fifty and then switch gears. After crossing his half-century, Head didn’t look worried for a single second. He took on the Indian bowlers with relative ease to slam a brilliant century.
