Virat Kohli is now the second player ever to play 100 matches against Australia in all forms of cricket. This happened during the IND vs AUS third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 at The Gabba on Friday, December 14, 2024. Kohli now stands alongside the great Sachin Tendulkar in this special club. Sachin played 110 matches against Australia including 39 Tests and 71 ODIs. Whereas, Kohli’s 100 matches include 28 Tests, 49 ODIs, and 23 T20Is.
Kohli’s impressive stats against Australia
In these 100 matches, Kohli has scored 5326 runs in 117 innings. He averages 50.24 and has hit 17 hundreds and 27 fifties. His runs include 504 fours and 58 sixes. Kohli is yet to bat in the ongoing third Test at The Gabba. Interestingly, Kohli has also bowled 23 overs against Australia including 9 in Tests, 10 in ODIs, and 4 in T20Is. Though he hasn’t taken any wickets, he’s been good in the field, taking 68 catches across all formats.

Sachin Tendulkar’s record against Australia is equally impressive. He scored 6707 runs at an average of 49.68, with 20 hundreds and 31 fifties. Sachin also took 31 wickets and 54 catches in his matches against Australia. Australia is arguably Virat Kohli’s second home ground after India, because of his impressive records in the country. Playing 100 matches against a tough team like Australia is no small feat. Kohli’s contribution in the Indian cricket has been impressive over the years.
