Mitchell Marsh is ready to bowl the number of overs that Pat Cummins wants him to bowl in the upcoming IND vs AUS 3rd Test. Marsh has lauded the coaching and the medical staff for his speedy recovery after his back stiffness. Marsh bowled 17 overs in the Perth Test and was rested in the next game.
The ace all-rounder has suffered from a stiff back for quite sometime. And after bowling in Perth, he pulled up a sore which restricted his bowling in the next Test match. But now come the Gabba Test, Marsh is ready to bowl as many overs as Pat Cummins wants from him.
Ready to bowl claims Marsh
“Not in my mind, no. I’ll try and be ready to bowl as much as Patty needs me. Our allrounders haven’t bowled a hell of a lot in Australia the last few years, but I am really thankful for our medical staff and Ronny [coach Andrew McDonald] and Patty who have allowed me the space between that first and second Test to just get right for the game,” Mitchell Marsh said.
“I didn’t bowl as much as I would have liked to in the lead-up to the series, but our medical staff, Ronnie and Patty were really clear. I trusted that,” he added.

In the Adelaide Test, Marsh didn’t need to bowl. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland struck gold as the trio were enough to bowl out India twice in just 80 overs. And thereby, Marsh got his much needed bowling break. It is also worth noting that Marsh suffered a hamstring injury while suffering from a stiff back since last season.
“I had an interrupted lead-in but I am really well placed,” Marsh said. “For me it is about being able to contribute. Whether that is five overs and bowling the occasional good ball and getting a wicket or just bowling overs to give our boys a chop out. Right now, it [the back] is feeling as good as it has felt,” he concluded.
