WTC Points Table updated: How can India still make to WTC Final 2025 after Adelaide loss?

WTC Final: As per the latest WTC points table, Rohit Sharma's Team India has slipped to third position behind Australia and South Africa.

After Team India’s massive 10-wicket loss, Rohit Sharma & Co. have majorly hurt their chances of making it to the WTC Final 2025. Now, the team has dropped to the third position in the WTC points table, with Australia and South Africa taking the top 2 positions. For India, losing the IND vs NZ series 0-3 didn’t help their cause either, as things are getting tighter now.

Team India’s point percentage has dropped from 61.11 after the Perth Test, to 57.29 after Adelaide. The Aussies are at 60.71, and the Proteas are at 59.26, and could jump over Australia, if they do manage to beat Sri Lanka at Gqeberha on Monday.

WTC Final Qualification Scenarios for India

Win 4-1: If India do manage to overcome the Aussies in the series with this margin, they will have a points percentage of 64.05 and will be certain to make the WTC final. IN case of a 3-1 victory, they would cruise into the final clash easily, they will sit at 60.52. In fact, winning 3-2 would be enough for Team India, as they would then stand at 58.77. In all the above cases, Australia would most likely be knocked out.

In short, India need to win the series, notwithstanding the margin. Having said that, a 2-2 draw, which would be an excellent result for the Indians at this point, they would lose out on the automatic qualification, and Australia will book their tickets for the WTC Final.
