Joe Root has gone on to smash his 36th Test century. The star batter has gone on to prove himself as one of the best Test batsmen of this modern era. Already, the best among the Fab 4, Joe Root is miles ahead of Virat Kohli. Even so, stats showcase that Root is very close to being compared with the great Sachin Tendulkar.

Among the Fab 4, Joe Root is miles ahead of his fellow compatriots Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, and Kane Williamson. In fact, the ace batter notched up a stunning century against the Kiwis, thereby helping the Three Lions win the 2nd Test match by a mammoth margin of 323 runs.

Joe Root vs Sachin Tendulkar – Who is better?

It is impossible to compare Joe Root to the great Sachin Tendulkar since the latter has played 200 Test matches. But when compared to what the Indian maestro achieved in his 151 Test matches, it is Joe Root who however has better stats.

Root has amassed 12886 runs while Sachin managed 11939 runs. While Sachin had a better average, Root however has more fifties (64) compared to Sachin’s (49). On the other hand, Virat Kohli hangs lowly with a total run tally of 9163 from 205 innings with 31 Test fifties and 30 Test tons.

It is impossible to compare Joe Root with Sachin Tendulkar. Since both the players are from different generations, they simply can’t be compared using any given parameter. Furthermore, Sachin had played fewer innings (30) than Root. Also not to forget Sachin faced better bowlers of the previous generation.

While Joe Root can hardly ever surpass Sachin’s records, it can be said without a shred of doubt that he is the best Test batsman in the current era. His grit, determination, and ability to turn matches have been a testament to his brilliance.
