INDW vs AUSW 2nd ODI: Australia thrash India by 122 runs

Batting first, Australia women put up a mammoth 372-run target for India to chase, thanks to hundreds from Ellyse Perry (105) and and opener Georgia Voli (101). India managed to get a late breakthrough as the opener Phoebe Litchfield was dismissed for 60 after the opening duo stitched a partnership of 130 runs. What followed was carnage from Perry and Voli. The duo nearly stitched together a 100-run partnership before India managed to find their next wicket. A 56-run knock from Beth Mooney propelled Australia to a mammoth 371-run total.

Saima Thakor and Minu Mani managed to get three and two wickets respectively but were taken to the cleaners by the Australian batters. The worst performance with the ball came from Priya Mishra, as she conceded 88 runs while managing to pick up just one wicket.

In reply, India started off on a poor note, with Smriti Mandhana failing to fire yet again. While fellow opener Richa Ghosh (54) went on to score a half-century, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (38) and Jemimah Rodrigues (43) failed to get the team across the line. India lost their set batters Kaur, Rodrigues and Ghosh in quick succession and that turned out to be the turning point of the match.

Annabel Sutherland managed to get four wickets while the rest of the Australian bowlers barring Tahila McGrath managed to get a wicket each. India’s lower-order collapsed as Australia reigned supreme in the tie. India were bowled out for just 249 runs, falling short of the target by a huge margin.
