World Chess Championship: D Gukesh vs Ding Liren game 10 ends in a draw

Both participants have equal points after first 10 matches of the ongoing World Chess Championship final.

D Gukesh vs Ding Liren Game 10 of the World Chess Championship final ended in a draw on December 7 (Saturday). After the first 10 games of the World Chess Championship final, the scoreboard stands level at 5 points each. As many as four matches are left between D Gukesh and Ding Liren before the final winner will be decided.

Speaking about the first ten games, Liren won the first match of the World Chess Championship final while the second ended in a draw. The India teenage Gukesh made a comeback in game 3 and has not bogged down since then. After game 3, each match has ended in a draw with both players sharing the points equally. It remains to be seen who will take the lead in the World Chess Championship final.

World Chess Championship final rules

  • The final, called a single match, will comprise up to 14 classical games.
  • The first player to score 7.5 points will become the world champion.
  • The time control is 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 60 minutes for the next 20 moves, then 15 minutes for the rest of the game. There’s a 30-second increment per move starting on move 61.

What if WCC final ends in a draw?

Players are not allowed to draw by agreement before move 41. The tie-break will begin with a four-game rapid playoff with a 25+10 time control. It will be followed by a two-game playoff with a 5+3 time control and another two-game playoff with a 5+3 time control. Three-plus-two individual games will be played until a winner is determined.
