Nitish Kumar Reddy has emerged as the newest sensation in Indian cricket, where he shone for SRH in the IPL 2024, then proved his worth for India in T20Is, and now is proving to be a handful in the IND vs AUS Tests. Seeing his massive potential with the bat and the ball, ahead of the IPL 2025, he was retained for INR 6 Cr.
In fact, he has been with SRH since 2023, where he was bagged at the IPL auction. In a recent interview with Wisden, the youngster revealed that Hyderabad wasn’t the only team, he appeared in trials for. He underwent trials with RCB and LSG as well, and was liked by Virat Kohli’s team. But he eventually did not appear for the second trials by them.
“I did appear in trials for RCB, LSG and other teams as well, but I thought Bengaluru would pick me up. They were so interested in me. After the first trials, they were so impressed, they wanted me to attend the second trials as well. But I couldn’t attend, and that is where they showed interest in some other player. At the same time SRH was also there.
“One point about Sunrisers. I couldn’t play Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for my team for two years since I was injured, but then they saw my videos and liked my performance in the trials. And that is how I got picked up,” Nitish added.
