ISL is back on Star Sports after the merger between Reliance and Disney

The Indian Super League 2024-25 will be more accessible as Star Sports 3 joins Sports18 3 and Asianet Plus for live telecasts from matchweek 11.

Fans of the Indian Super League have a reason to cheer as the live telecast for the 2024-25 season will be more accessible for them. Previously, Viacom18 held sole broadcasting rights. However, starting from match week 11, Indian football fans can catch the action on Star Sports 3 in addition to Sports18-3 and Asianet Plus. This expansion was officially announced on December 3, 2024, and will kick off with the fixture between Hyderabad FC and FC Goa on December 4.

Exciting matches are on the horizon, with Mohun Bagan Super Giant facing off against NorthEast United and Odisha FC battling it out with Mumbai City FC in the same week. This strategic change follows the high-profile merger between Reliance (owned by Reliance) and Disney.

History of ISL broadcasting

  • Star Sports (2014-2023): When the Indian Super League (ISL) was launched in 2014, Star Sports took on the role of its primary broadcaster. With extensive coverage across their TV channels and digital platforms, Star Sports helped bring the league to Indian audiences, setting the foundation for its early success. Star continued to air the league on their TV channels and Disney+ Hotstar. This transition further expanded the league’s reach and boosted its visibility among a growing fanbase.
  • Viacom 18 (2023-Present): In 2023, Viacom 18 took over the broadcasting rights for the ISL, bringing fresh energy to the coverage. The matches are now aired on Sports 18. Now, along with Viacom, the matches will be telecasted live on Star Sports, marking a new chapter for the league as it continues to grow in the Indian sports landscape.
