But before the auction, many team names were being speculated as the potential destination for Rahul in IPL 2025, if not LSG, who had released him. Teams where KL Rahul could have been utilized better than DC in IPL
Royal Challengers Bengaluru
It was initially reported that KL Rahul would return to the team where he started his career, RCB, as everything seemed set for his homecoming. However, nothing happened in the IPL 2025 auction. If we look at it, RCB could have utilized him better. Firstly, he already understood the management well. Also, there was a vacancy for a wicketkeeper-batter, especially after Dinesh Karthik’s retirement. RCB released Faf du Plessis, so Rahul could have opened for them, which would have sorted things out for him.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Apart from RCB, it was KKR who could have utilized him better, as there was a position for a wicketkeeper-batter. If we look at how KKR’s squad is currently, they certainly have Quinton de Kock as a wicketkeeper-batter, and they also have Rahmanullah Gurbaz. However, everyone knows that KL Rahul can bat in the middle order as well, and currently, KKR’s middle order looks a bit weak. Similar to the RCB situation, PBKS’ rumors also came up for KL Rahul, as this is the team he had already played for and captained. He was at his peak during that time, making tons of runs for them, and if he had joined the camp, he would have been the skipper as well.
