Gujarat batsman Urvil Patel is on a rampage at the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. After smashing the fastest ton for an Indian in T20s, the youngster smashed a 36-ball ton against Uttarakhand in Indore, on Tuesday. While chasing an imposing 186, Urvil managed to score 115 from just 41 deliveries, to take his team home.
Urvil Patel Responds to IPL Auction Snub
All this, after Urvil Patel was ignored at the IPL Auction by all teams. But then, he has not let the snub affect his game, and proved that by hitting a 28-ball century vs Tripura, just a few days back. Meanwhile, that was a global record too, since the fastest ton ever, across international and domestic competitions, stands at 27 deliveries, by Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan.
Meanwhile, it is not like Urvil never got a chance with any franchise at all. Back in 2023, he was with the Gujarat Titans, but never got to play a match with them. Post that, he was released from the squad, and never got a chance again.
2nd Ton in SMAT
Coming back to the match, courtesy of Urvil Patel’s sensational knock, Gujarat managed to chase down the target in only 13.1 overs. Aarya Desai also contributed with 13-ball 23. On bowling front, there were no decent performances from Uttarakhand on the day, as all their bowlers leaked runs. Agrim Tiwari was the most expensive as he gave away 56 in 3 overs.
As far as their batting is concerned, Samarth R scored 54 from 39, Kunal Chadela chipped in with valuable 43 from 27, and Aditya Tare got 54 from 26. GUJ’s Vishal Jayswal was the best bowler across both the sides, and returned with figures of 4/27 in his four overs.
