IND vs AUS: Mohammed Shami marked a return to competitive cricket, by taking seven wickets in the Ranji Trophy match vs MP.

There is no stopping Mohammed Shami now. The 34-year-old pacer has made it amply clear with his performances, that he wants to be on that flight to Australia, for the IND vs AUS Test series. After returning from a long injury hiatus of a year, Shami has been playing back-to-back domestic matches, and on Tuesday finished with figures of 1/18 in 4 overs vs Bihar, in Rajkot, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Mohammed Shami Proves Fitness for IND vs AUS?

Shami, slowly but surely, is getting back his groove, as he is playing more matches now. In the ongoing tournament, SMAT, in six matches till now, he has bagged five wickets. After bagging 3/21 vs Hyderabad, he had a lull of three matches, where he returned wicketless. In fact, he had an injury scare on November 29, when in the match vs MP, he had a bit of a lower back issue.

Taking Giant Strides in SMAT

But later, he posted his gym workout pictures, that indicated he was fit enough to play more matches. Now, as far as his participation in the IND vs AUS Tests is concerned, he needs to get a clearance from the BCCI medical team, for the same. As per various reports, the team is keeping a close eye on him at all times.

Mohammed Shami, for now, is expected to continue playing in the SMAT, as long as he does not achieve 100% fitness, for the tough tour in Australia. Meanwhile, it is certain that he cannot be a part of the Adelaide Test, that begins on December 6. Instead, a realistic goal for him could be, to keep a return date set for the last two Tests.
