Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe drags ex-club PSG to court over non-payment of wages worth Rs 488 cr

Kylian Mbappe hasn't set the stage on fire ever since joining his dream club, Real Madrid. In the Champions League so far, he has pocketed just one goal.

Kylian Mbappe, France and Real Madrid football star, has taken a serious step against his former club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). He has referred the club to the disciplinary committee of the French league over a dispute about unpaid wages and bonuses worth almost Rs 500 crore!

Kylian Mbappe vs PSG continues!

The conflict centres around 55 million euros ($57.9 million) that Mbappe claims PSG owes him. The French league has scheduled a hearing for December 11th to discuss this matter. PSG, however, says Mbappe agreed in August 2023 to give up these payments.

The dispute has deep roots. Last season, Mbappe was left out of the PSG squad after refusing to extend his contract. He was set to leave the club in June, eventually joining Spanish giants Real Madrid. Before his departure, there was an agreement that he would give up certain bonuses if he left the club for free. Now, Mbappe’s team is challenging the validity of that earlier agreement.

The French Football Federation (FFF) has already rejected PSG’s attempt to reconsider the payment order, saying it was submitted a day too late. If the disciplinary committee finds against PSG, the club could face serious consequences. According to league rules, they might receive a fine or even be banned from signing new players. However, PSG believes the case will eventually go to an industrial tribunal. For Mbappe, it’s about getting what he believes he is owed. For PSG, it’s about protecting their financial interests.
