The India Cricket Team inflicted a humiliating defeat against Australia in the Perth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. And now Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar has pointed out the Panic in the Australian team ahead of the Pink Ball Adelaide Test. The former Indian opener has claimed that Josh Hazlewood’s injury is now being termed as a mystery injury for the hosts.
Josh Hazlewood shocked the world when during the Perth Test he told the media that Australia’s poor form is to be blamed on the batters. This created the narrative that the Australian team is now split into two ranks. And now with Hazlewood’s side strain injury, he is a major doubt for the remainder of the series.
‘Panic at the Disco’ for Australia
“The panic in the Australian ranks is palpable, what with former players calling for heads to be chopped off and some even hinting at cracks in the Australian team after Josh Hazlewood’s media interview at the end of the third day’s play, where he suggested that it was up to the batters to now do something,” Gavaskar wrote in his column for Sportstar.
Sunil Gavaskar further claimed that nobody batted an eye after Hazlewood’s strong comments to the media at the end of day’s play on Day 3 of the Perth Test. He claimed it was likely to be a mystery injury which was very common in Indian cricket. Gavaskar further pointed out that he is simply enjoying the panic that the Aussies are feeling after losing the opening Test match of the IND vs AUS Test series.
Now, a few days later, Hazlewood is out of the second Test and possibly the series too with a supposed side strain. Strange, since nobody had noticed anything wrong with Hazlewood at that media conference. Mystery, mystery — the like of which used to be common in Indian cricket in the past. Now it’s the Aussies, and like old McDonald, I’m simply loving it,” Gavaskar added.
