3 teams where David Warner would have been a good fit after IPL 2025 Auction

Since David Warner went unsold this time, it came as a shock to many. However, if we look closely, there were a few teams that could have used him well in IPL 2025.

When it comes to T20 cricket, there’s no question that David Warner’s name consistently stands out. Despite not being at his peak, this Australian great is still considered one of the best players in the shorter format of the game. As a star opener, Warner has always been a team favourite in any league cricket scenario. In the IPL, he has consistently delivered, scoring 6565 runs in just 184 matches, including an impressive 62 fifties and 4 centuries, showcasing his immense value as a player.

Although it came as a surprise to many that he went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, which shocked fans, given his brilliant performances both as a player and a leader. Whether with Sunrisers Hyderabad or Delhi Capitals, Warner has left an impressive mark in the IPL. With SRH, he led the team to their maiden IPL title in 2016 and performed admirably for Delhi Capitals as well.

Now, as the IPL 2025 auction is done, but many fans believe that certain franchises missed the opportunity to utilize Warner’s experience and skill. Who are those teams that could have benefitted from acquiring him? Let’s see this in detail.

Teams where David Warner would have been a good fit

RCB

When RCB came to the IPL auction, they didn’t have an opener as they had released Faf du Plessis. They could have gone for this player, considering how dangerous Warner is, especially if RCB is playing at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is known as a batter’s paradise. Warner could have capitalized more on that. Surely, RCB has missed this name. Although they went for Phil Salt, looking at the experience Warner has, he could have been a better fit for RCB in IPL 2025.

LSG

The almost same situation like RCB applies to LSG, as they released one of the biggest names, KL Rahul. They lost both a captain and a top-order batter. They could have used Warner in many ways, especially since opening is crucial, and he is an experienced captain as well. There’s no question that if Warner had been with LSG, he would have provided them with better results.

PBKS

Also, now when it comes to PBKS, they not only released some names but went to extremes by removing many players from the camp. The team went into the auction with a two uncapped players. Given this scenario, if they had gone for Warner, they could have gotten a skipper, a stylish opener, at a reasonable rate. Although he is currently not part of the international cricket circuit, but he is playing leagues around the world. He could have been the best fit for PBKS, a team that is struggling to get results.
