Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s IPL fame fizzles with second consecutive flop in U-19 Asia Cup

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s struggles persist as he fails to deliver in his second match after the IPL auction, raising concerns about his current form.

The 13-year-old batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made headlines as the youngest player and crorepati in the IPL 2025 auction is having a tough time with his performance. In the ongoing match against Japan during the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, Vaibhav failed to impress with his batting. Although he started well, he couldn’t turn his promising start into a big score.

The young batter from Bihar has just made his debut in the U-19 Asia Cup. In the last match against Pakistan, he also didn’t perform well, getting out after making just one run. The Rajasthan Royals had high hopes for him and bought him for Rs 1.10 crore in the auction.

Missed opportunity against Japan

In the Under-19 Asia Cup match against Japan, after losing the toss, the Indian team batted first. Vaibhav and his partner Ayush Mhatre provided a solid start, making 65 runs together in 7.2 overs. Both seemed to be playing well, but Vaibhav, after scoring 23 runs off 22 balls with 3 fours and a six, got out on the next ball. This was a big chance for him to make a name for himself, but he missed it. In another match against Pakistan, he was dismissed after scoring just one run. However, Ayush performed strongly, scoring 54 runs in 29 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The youngster in headlines

Vaibhav Suryavanshi gained attention at the IPL 2025 mega auction, where he became a crorepati at just 13 years old. There was a competitive bidding war between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, and Rajasthan managed to secure him for Rs 1.10 crore. Vaibhav made history as the youngest player to be sold at an IPL auction. Known for his aggressive batting style, he gained fame for hitting long sixes, having even scored a century against Australia’s Under-19 team.
