Mumbai cricket team batter Prithvi Shaw‘s childhood coach has claimed that the star’s involvement in groups outside cricket has led to his downfall recently. After being released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, he found no takers in Jeddah, suffering yet another blow. He was dropped from Mumbai’s team midway through the Ranji Trophy for being “overweight”. While he did get a chance to redeem himself in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he continued to squander opportunities.
The reason behind Prithvi Shaw’s downfall explained
In an interview with ETV Bharat. Prithvi Shaw’s first coach Santosh Pingutkar said that it was sad to see such a decline in the batter’s career, especially when was just 25 years old. He blamed Shaw’s involvement in groups outside cricket for contributing to his downfall. Pingutkar stated that Prithvi Shaw would have to respond with hard work if he wants to sustain as a cricketer.
“Other activities, everything but his game witnessed a rise. He was more involved in his groups outside cricket. But, no doubt he loves cricket. However, he wasn’t able to convert his love for the game into his efforts. That’s why he is witnessing such a lean phase. He should bounce back as soon as possible. Everyone’s blessings are with him,” Pingutkar said.
