Lucknow Super Giants are on the hunt for a new skipper in IPL 2025 after having released KL Rahul before the mega auction. While fans would point out that Rs 27 cr buy Rishabh Pant would be the best option, it looks like LSG are keeping their cards close to the chest when it comes to captaincy. Apart from Pant, the team has other players who are captaincy materials, including Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markam and Australia’s Mitchell Marsh.
Will Rishabh Pant captain LSG in IPL 2025?
LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka opened up on who would be LSG’s skipper for IPL 2025 and the response indicates that the team has still not made a decision. The team decided to part ways with KL Rahul ahead of the auction and the Karnataka keeper-batter has found a new home in Delhi Capitals. Goenka reckons that LSG have a strong leadership group that will allow the team to function seamlessly.
“We have four leaders in our team – Rishabh (Pant), Pooran, Markram and Mitch Marsh. So it becomes a very strong leadership pool of intellect and thought, and strategy. They are all people who can go with the mindset to win. Rishabh has the hunger and passion to win. So a good team has been built,” Sanjiv Goenka said.
