3 IPL Teams with most Australians for IPL 2025

Since Australians have always been an important part of the IPL, how many Aussies received paychecks in the IPL 2025 auction? And most importantly, which teams have the most Australians for IPL 2025?

Australian cricketers have always been in high demand in the IPL, and the contribution from this group of players has been immense. If we look back, it was former Australian champion cricketer Shane Warne under whom Rajasthan Royals won the IPL trophy. Even in recent times, Shane Watson’s contribution to CSK played a key role in the team securing the 2018 IPL title. However, in the IPL 2025 auction, we’ve seen some interesting trends, with many Australian players not bagging big deals apart from a few names. In total, 37 Australian cricketers were part of the auction, including David Warner, who went unsold. Of these, 13 Australian cricketers received big checks. Nevertheless, there are a few teams that capitalized on this and bought a good number of Australians to strengthen their squads. See the three teams with the most number of Australians for IPL 2025.

PBKS

The first team currently gaining popularity due to the number of Australians they’ve bought is Punjab Kings. Many social media users are joking that the team might as well change their name to Australian Kings due to the number of Aussies in the squad for IPL 2025. The team has signed Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis, Aaron Hardie, and Xavier Bartlett. Also, let’s not forget that the team has former Australian captain Ricky Ponting, which makes things even more interesting.

RCB

Unlike Punjab Kings, who have almost half a dozen Aussies in their mix, Royal Challengers Bengaluru went for two big names in the IPL 2025 auction. They went all out for Josh Hazlewood, buying him for Rs. 12.50 crore, showing how much they wanted an experienced bowler. On the other hand, RCB also secured Singaporean-born Australian cricketer Tim David for Rs. 3 crore. David, who was impressive for Mumbai Indians in the past, will now look to make his mark with the Bengaluru  side in IPL 2025, using his all-round attributes.

DC

The same goes for Delhi Capitals, who are still searching for their first IPL trophy. They purchased two big Australian stars, Mitchell Starc and Jake Fraser-McGurk. Starc was bought for Rs. 11.75 crore. Although Starc didn’t receive an extremely big paycheck this time like last, he still managed to get a value of more than 10 crore. On the other hand, Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk, who shocked everyone last season playing for DC with his batting, was brought back via RTM. Apart from these, Lucknow Super Giants went for Mitchell Marsh, while Chennai Super Kings, after not having an Australian in IPL 2024, signed Nathan Ellis. Kolkata Knight Riders went for Spencer Johnson, and IPL 2024 runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad secured Adam Zampa’s services.
