Prince is back! Shubman Gill to bat for first time after thumb injury, likely to play 2nd BGT Test

Shubman Gill had to sit out from the first Test in Perth after he was hit on the left thumb.

If you are an Indian cricket fan, a good piece of news is coming your way! Shubman Gill, who was sidelined from the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), will practice for the first time tomorrow, November 29 (Friday). While there is no confirmation for Gill to be ready for the second Test match against Australia in Adelaide, him batting in the nets is a great development.

Shubman Gill to play 2nd BGT Test?

According to RevSportz journalist Rohit Juglan, Gill will practice with the Indian team in Canberra. It will be the first instance for the ‘Prince’ of Indian cricket to bat since he was struck on his left thumb while fielding during the match simulation vs. India A. The injury occurred on November 16. Gill was replaced by Devdutt Padikkal, a last-minute entrant into the Indian BGT squad. Padikkal had an ordinary stay in Perth, scoring 0 and 25 runs.

Initially, it was reported that he could be out for at least two weeks, but Morne Morkel, Team India’s assistant coach, hinted that Gill might feature in the first Test, depending on how his finger was on the morning of the match. In the end, Gill didn’t play. But now, Gill is expected to play India’s practice game against Prime Ministers XI in Canberra on November 30-December 1.
