If one had to pick a squad from IPL Auction 2025, that picked the best players — GT would certainly be in contention. After retaining players like Rashid Khan, Shubman Gill, Rahul Tewatia, Sai Sudharsan, and Shahrukh Khan, they built a squad worthy of IPL trophy contenders in 2025.
GT maintained an excellent balance between youth and experience, all of them performers, who have been displaying great form. Entering the IPL Auction, they had to strengthen batting and build bowling unit around Rashid — they largely managed to do so. Insidesport takes a detailed look at GT’s squad, and the playing XI they could field.

Hits and IPL Auction 2025
They did an excellent job with their foreign buys as they got Kagiso Rabada and Gerald Coetzee. In the batting department, they found an opening partner for Gill in Buttler. Genn Phillips and Karim Janat are back-up all-rounder options. Their moment of the auction came when Washington came to them at 3.2 Cr only. So they have a problem of plenty at the moment.
Misses at IPL Auction 2025
Top order is fine, but if at all, one has to pick a loophole, they don’t have real experience in the batting middle-order. That is not a big problem to start with, but then once they start losing, they will miss an experienced batter in the team. Sudharsan, Lomror, Tewatia and Shahrukh isn’t the strongest quartet for sure. But they could be effective on their day.
