RCB faced the wrath of fans, critics and even e-commerce giants for their poor strategy on Day 1 of IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were miserly on Day 1 of IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah, taking their fans by surprise. The trophy-less franchise hardly bid for any player and when they did so (for marquee players), they stopped short after raising the paddle just 3 or 4 times. RCB‘s strategy drew flak from fans, critics and even e-commerce giants, who were all visibly frustrated with the team.

One of the most eye-catching post aimed at RCB’s poor strategy on Day 1 of the auction was Flipkart’s social media post. The e-commerce giant took a direct dig at RCB, noting that while the rest of the teams were after players in Jeddah, RCB was busy saving money. RCB fans were taken by surprise after the team failed to bid for either KL Rahul or Rishabh Pant – both marquee players who were in high demand.
