Rohit Sharma has finally touched down in Perth and now diving straight into action by hitting the nets. The skipper, also known as “The Hitman” has practised with the pink ball, as India will be taking on Australia in the Pink ball Test in Adelaide starting from 6th December. His presence in the IND vs AUS Test series is a huge boost for Team India as they continue their campaign.
Rohit skipped Perth Test
Rohit wasn’t part of the Test squad initially because he was back home in Mumbai. He stayed with his family for a very special reason, which was the birth of his second child. Being with his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, and daughter, Samaira, during this joyous occasion was his top priority.
Joining team midway through the Test
After his son’s birth, cricket fans eagerly awaited Rohit’s return. And he didn’t disappoint. He flew to Australia over the weekend and joined his teammates midway through the Perth Test. By Monday, he was already in the dressing room, ready to bring his experience and leadership to the fold. Seeing him alongside coach Gautam Gambhir was a reassuring sight for the team and fans alike.
Shifting the leadership gears
With Rohit’s return, the leadership dynamics in the team are shifting. Jasprit Bumrah did a commendable job as the stand-in captain. However, with Rohit back, he naturally takes over the captaincy duties. Meanwhile, Bumrah will step back into his role as the vice-captain. Rohit’s leadership is anticipated to be a game-changer, even if his input wasn’t immediately crucial given the strong position India held against Australia.
Getting ready for the next challenge
Always one to lead by example, Rohit didn’t waste any time and hit the nets right away. Preparing for the next Test in Adelaide is his focus now. He plans to sharpen his skills with a two-day practice match, ensuring he’s ready to lead by performance and guidance.
Tough call for the batting order
Rohit’s comeback also stirs discussions about the batting lineup. KL Rahul’s excellent form and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century in Perth make the selection tricky. With Shubman Gill vying for a spot at number three, the team faces some tough decisions. It’s all about finding the perfect mix to keep the momentum going.
