KKR is one of those teams who made some of the best retentions ahead of IPL Auction 2025. They managed to keep Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Ramandeep Singh, Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy, but missed out on a few key players like Venkatesh Iyer. At JioCinema’s Mock Auction War Room, the player from MP fetched a massive price of 10.5 Cr from CSK, after a bit of a fight from PBKS.
Venkatesh Iyer: IPL 2025 Auction
While at the actual IPL Auction on November 24, 25, CSK might not bid for him, but then one thing is for certain, that he is assured of getting some big bids from other teams given the value he adds to any team. Venkatesh Iyer is an explosive batter at the top of the order, and also can bowl a couple of overs for his team.
As far as his IPL numbers are concerned, he had a decent 2024 season. The 29-year-old in 15 matches scored 370 runs including four fifties, and a best of 70. He averaged over 46, and struck at a strike rate of 158. He could be on PBKS, LSG and RCB’s radar. In fact, such is his utility that KKR might just be tempted to buy him at IPL Auction again.
On Saturday also, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match for MP vs Mizoram, he looked in fine nick. He scored 36 from 15 only, taking his team to 216/6. He bowled two overs for 23 runs, but did not claim a wicket.
