Despite performing decently well this year in the Ranji Trophy, Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun failed to deliver for his side Goa, when it came to the T20s. Playing the first match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Mumbai, Arjun Tendulkar looked out of sorts and ended up leaking 48 runs in just his four overs. That meant, Goa, lost by 26 runs in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Arjun Tendulkar Fails to Impress in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
After batting first Mumbai batters started hitting the ball in all directions of the ground, with Prithvi Shaw scoring 33 from 22. But the star of the show was skipper Shreyas Iyer, who slammed and unbeaten 130 from 57 deliveries only. He hit 11 fours and 10 sixes in the innings, to audition well for the IPL Auction, slated to take place in Jeddah on November 24, 25.
On the other hand, Arjun Tendulkar’s reputation as a budding all-rounder only took a hit, as far as the IPL Auction is concerned. He was wayward, and that reflected in his 48/0 figures. With the bat too, he managed to score only 9 from 4 deliveries. Perhaps a good performance here would have propelled some team to bid for him, maybe even MI.
Audition for IPL Auction
As far as the match is concerned, Mumbai ended up scoring a massive 250 runs in their stipulated 20 overs. Lower down the order, Shams Mulani chipped in with a quickfire 41 from 24 deliveries, making him a solid contender to be picked in the IPL Auction. Meanwhile, Darshan Misal was the best bowler for Goa, picking up 2/35.
Come the chase, Ishaan Gadekar was excellent at the top of the order, scoring 40 from 16. Suyash Prabhdessai’s 52 from 36 kept Goa in hunt, and was well supported by Vikash Singh’s 47 from 21. But that was not enough on the day. Mulani, once again showed his all-round skills to return with figures of 1/25.
