Everyone is eagerly waiting for the IPL 2025 mega auction, which is set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on 24 and 25 November. However, before that, teams have fine-tuned their squads by retaining core players, with a maximum of six retentions allowed. Not many teams opted for all six retentions, with some going for five or three. We even saw how Punjab Kings retained players. If we look at the franchise, they can fill up their roster by taking up to 25 players, with 18 being the minimum. A total of 46 players have already been retained by the teams, leaving 204 slots to fill during the IPL 2025 auction. Also, the most important thing people are looking for is how many foreign players a team can buy. Currently, the rule says that a maximum of eight overseas players can be part of a team, with 70 slots available for overseas players at the auction.
How many players are in IPL auction for 2025?
Initially, the number was 574, but with the inclusion of three players,Jofra Archer, Saurabh Netravalkar, and Hardik Tamore, the number has been updated to 577. This includes 367 players from India and 210 overseas players, with 4 players from associate nations.
