KL Rahul goes to DC for Rs 18 cr, Umran Malik for Rs 3.25 cr at Ashwin’s mock IPL Auction

Here is how Delhi Capitals (DC) squad line up after Ravichandran Ashwin's IPL 2025 mock auction.

Ravichandran Ashwin, the off-spinning wizard-turned-social media sensation, has stirred up the cricket world with his mock IPL 2025 mega auction. One of the most intriguing storylines was the fate of KL Rahul, who has been touted to go to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). However, as per Ashwin’s IPL 2025 mock auction, Delhi Capitals (DC) bagged KL Rahul for a whopping Rs 18 crore.

Not RCB, KL Rahul goes to DC

Rahul, a marquee player with a base price of Rs 2 crore, found himself in high demand. However, RCB, surprisingly, didn’t make a significant bid for him. Instead, Gujarat Titans (GT), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) engaged in a fierce bidding war. While GT dropped out early, the contest between KKR and DC intensified. KKR was willing to go up to Rs 17.5 crore, but DC ultimately outbid them, securing Rahul’s services for a hefty price of Rs 18 crore.

Umran Malik for just Rs 3.25 cr

Umran Malik was the talk of the town in IPL 2022. At just 22, the pacer from Kashmir gained fame for throwing absolute rockets at batters and was the fourth-highest wicket-taker two years back. Since then, he’s played just 9 matches and taken 5 wickets. All the while going over 11 runs an over. It’s been a mighty fall. He was still in conversations due to his rapid pace, but Mayank Yadav arrived on the IPL circuit last season and took over. Hence, it cost just Rs 3.25 crore for the Delhi Capitals (DC) to buy KL Rahul.

Strong Delhi Capitals (DC) squad after mock Auction

Delhi, who have will enter the IPL 2025 mega auction with a purse of Rs 73 crore, organized a great team at Ashwin’s mock auction. Naman Dhir, exciting prospect from Punjab, was a steal at Rs 3.25. So was Naveen Ul-Haq for Rs 5.5 crore. Umran Malik wasn’t the only express speedster as they also roped in Kartk Tyagi for Rs 1.75 crore.
