There’s no doubt that teams will break their banks to bag Rishabh Pant in IPL auction and a preview of it was witnessed at Ashwin’s mock auction. The southpaw, who was associated with Delhi Capitals since his IPL debut, was released by the franchise after IPL 2024. With majority of teams looking to build a whole new side, Pant will be in much demand.
Rishabh Pant sold for Rs 20.5 cr to PBKS in mock auction
Rishabh Pant was bagged for Rs 20.5 crore by Punjab Kings in Ravichandran Ashwin‘s mock auction. He was picked as the captain and the franchise’s first-choice wicketkeeper. Pacers Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, and Harshal Patel who were released by PBKS, were bought back via Right to Match (RTM) card for Rs 13.5 cr, Rs 10 cr and Rs 9.5 cr respectively. Ex-Rajasthan Royals spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was also bagged by PBKS for a whooping Rs 11 cr.

The mock auction saw ex-RCB skipper Faf du Plessis and Devdutt Padikkal were purchased by PBKS for Rs 5.5 cr and Rs 5 cr respectively. Glenn Maxwell, who was previously associated with the team before moving to RCB, was roped in for Rs 9.5cr.
PBKS also managed to pick up a battery of bowlers as their back-ups in Ashwin’s mock auction. The list includes Rasikh Dar, Spencer Johnson, Noor Ahmed, Navdeep Saini. RCB batter Mahipal Lomror, wicketkeeper Shai Hope and Nathan Ellis are also a part of PBKS’ back-up options. Punjab Kings will head into IPL auction with the highest purse – Rs 110.5 cr. They have retained only Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh before the auction. The IPL 2025 auction will be held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah.
