Another shuffle! Pakistan replace Mohammad Yousuf with a new batting coach before ZIM, SA series

From Nov 24 to Dec 05 (11 days), Pakistan will play 3 ODIs and as many T20Is against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.

Pakistan’s cricket team is getting a new batting coach to help improve their performance. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has chosen Shahid Aslam for this important job, hoping to solve their ailing ‘batting’ problem. The team didn’t do well in their recent T20 series against Australia. It was so alarming to see that only one player from Pakistan managed to score an aggregate of 50 runs in the three T20Is in Down Under. Well, Australia weren’t playing their first-choice team as well!

Who is Shahid Aslam, new PAK batting coach?

Shahid Aslam is not a new face in Pakistani cricket. He has worked with the team before and is known for helping players improve their techniques. He’s especially good at conducting practice sessions that help batter become better.

Aaqib Javed, the new white-ball head coach, recommended Aslam for this role. Aslam will start his job during the upcoming tours to Zimbabwe and South Africa. His main job will be to work with both experienced players like Mohammad Rizwan and young talents like Abdullah Shafique.

The team is first heading to Zimbabwe for three one-day matches and three T20 matches. These games will be Aslam’s first chance to show how he can help the team improve their batting. The PCB hopes this change will help the team perform better in the packed upcoming schedule. They believe Aslam can help bridge the gap between the team’s potential and actual performance.

The PCB on Monday appointed Aaqib as the white-ball head coach until the ICC Champions Trophy early next year after Australian Jason Gillespie turned down a chance to become all-format coach. Aaqib who will continue as senior national selector has left to join the players in Zimbabwe where they play a series of three ODIs and three T20 internationals before moving on to South Africa for another white-ball rubber.
