“Worried for Australia”: David Warner fires Virat Kohli warning to Pat Cummins & co for IND vs AUS Tests

David Warner said that he was genuinely worried for Australia over an out-of-form Virat Kohli in the upcoming IND vs AUS Test series

Former Australia cricket team opener David Warner has cautioned the side to not take Virat Kohli lightly in IND vs AUS Test series. The out-of-form Indian batter will be eyeing to bounce back from his miserable run in Tests in 2024. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy will commence with the 1st Test in Perth on November 22.

David Warner asks Australia not to take Virat Kohli lightly

Despite his poor form in the recent past, Virat Kohli is still one of Australia’s biggest concerns in IND vs AUS Test series. In his column for Herald Sun, the southpaw wrote that he was actually worried for Australia and not for Virat Kohli. He added that while people wanted to “write off” Virat Kohli following the disastrous campaign against New Zealand, the batter always stepped up for challenges, especially in Australia and that there was no better platform for Kohli to silence his critics.

This is the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and we know Virat always steps up in Australia and completely embraces that challenge like almost no one else who has ever visited our shores. There is no better way for him to come out and shut the critics up. I’m genuinely worried for the Australian cricket team that he’s going to come out and pile on some runs,” Warner wrote.

Warner drew a parallel between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith. He predicts that the battle of supremacy between the two members of the ‘Fab 4’ will determine the result of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Like Kohli, Smith has also been out of touch in recent past and will hope to break free from the shackles of poor form in the series against India.

As for Virat Kohli, he has played only 5 Tests in 2024 and has not been in the best of form. Against New Zealand, he managed to score only 93 runs. His performances against Bangladesh sub-par as well. India will need Virat Kohli to find his golden touch once again in the crucial BGT series which will determine their spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
