Rohit Sharma, Shami to depart together for IND vs AUS series

As per the report, both Rohit Sharma and Shami are expected to leave together for the series against Australia. The Hitman was blessed with a baby boy on Friday, increasing hopes of his participation in IND vs AUS 1st Test in Perth. The report adds that Shami’s inclusion in India’s squad will be subject to his fitness. After undergoing an ankle surgery earlier this year, the pacer made his return to competitive cricket in the Ranji Trophy. Physio Nitin Patel has reportedly been sent to Indore to keep a tab on Shami’s fitness as he takes part in Bengal’s match against Madhya Pradesh. While the report states that Rohit Sharma could play the 1st Test in Perth, Shami is expected to depart with the skipper but his inclusion in the XI still remains a mystery.

Shami’s comeback on the cards

Mohammed Shami last featured in a game for India in the ODI World Cup in 2023. He missed IPL 2024 and underwent an ankle surgery earlier this year. He was recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and was not picked for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy initially because of certain complications related to his knees. However, he made his comeback in Bengal’s fifth-round Ranji Trophy match and is expected to soon join Jasprit Bumrah and co. in Australia.
