It has been a long time since Ruturaj Gaikwad is on the hunt for his Test debut. But come the Border Gavaskar Trophy, he is highly unlikely to get a chance. The Chennai Super Kings captain however continued to showcase his mark in the India’s intra squad friendly in Perth.

The India A captain took on the bowlers to slog 4 huge sixes targeting the offspinners. According to reports in Australia, Gaikwad slammed Ravi Ashwin for 2 sixes and then followed it with sixes against Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana.

Will Ruturaj Gaikwad get his chance?

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been performing well in the domestic cricket setup for a long time. He has been eyeing a Test debut for quite a long but he is third in fray to get his chance. If Rohit Sharma doesn’t play the IND vs AUS 1st Test in Perth, then either of KL Rahul or Abhimanyu Easwaran will get their chance to open with Yashasvi Jaiswal.

As far as the intra squad friendly of India Cricket Team goes, on Day 2 Ruturaj Gaikwad unleashed his fury on the bowlers. He targetted the two off-spinners in form of Ashwin and Washington Sundar which gives a clear indication that if given a chance, he can also take on Australia’s Nathan Lyon.

While he patiently awaits for his chance in the team, it is a given thing that the CSK and India A captain will have to wait a little longer to get his break in red ball cricket for the country.
