India will take on Australia in the 1st Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy on 22nd November

The other day, Rohit Sharma became father to a baby boy. Initially, it was reported that Rohit Sharma would likely miss out on the IND vs AUS 1st Test in Perth. But now as things stand, the Indian skipper could be on his way to return to Australia and be ready to play at the WACA. But here we discuss why Rohit Sharma shouldn’t play the opening Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

As things stand, Rohit Sharma is with his family after the birth of his second child. It was reported that Rohit Sharma would be missing out on the opening Test and Jasprit Bumrah would be leading the India Cricket Team.

As a result, it was reported that either KL Rahul or Abhimanyu Easwaran would open for India. Even, ahead of traveling to Australia, India head coach Gautam Gambhir claimed that KL is a versatile batter who can bat as an opener and also in the middle order.

No Practice Yet?

As things stand, if Rohit Sharma has to play the Perth Test, he would have to take the flight on 18th November. After a long arduous journey, he will reach Down Under. And this will be a major disadvantage for the India Cricket Team captain. Rohit will have very little time to prepare for the game.

While the rest of the team practiced in the nets, Rohit would be without adequate practice. On the other hand, currently, Team India playing an intra-squad friendly.

And secondly, Rohit Sharma would preferably not be in the right frame of mind. It would be difficult for a new father to come out in the crease and lead the charge for his side.
