“Brain doesn’t say”: Clarke claims “retirement” next for Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli after IND vs AUS Tests

Clarke hoped that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma could turn around their fortunes in Down Under when they take on Australia in IND vs AUS Test series

Former Australia captain Michael Clarke has claimed that retirement would be next for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, if IND vs AUS Test series were their last. India will take on Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy from November 22 onwards. There has been a lot of speculations over the future of Ro-Ko in red-ball cricket, given their poor form in the recent past.

Retirement next for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma?

Speaking on Around the Wickets podcast, Clarke hoped that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma could turn around their fortunes in Australia. The veteran duo failed to fire during the home series against Bangladesh and New Zealand. Clarke claimed that he doesn’t reckon Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma would fail in Australia and rather thinks that the Australian bowlers will have a tough task at hand to get rid of both batters early.

If it’s their last time here in Australia, I think it will be retirement. They won’t be dropped, but it the same breath, I think every cricketer knows that if you’re not making runs or taking wickets, there will be conversations around that kind of a thing. Being the captain of the team, you get a slack for that, and if you’re the world’s best batter for the last 10 years – maybe longer – across formats, I think Virat may get a bit more slack than somebody else,” Clarke said
