KL Rahul puts ball in RCB’s court, expresses desire to return ahead of IPL 2025 auction

Rahul's breakout season came with RCB in 2016, where he scored 397 runs at 44.11 while striking at 146.97.

KL Rahul’s ready to return to his home. Before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, the wicketkeeper batter has indirectly hinted that he wants to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the home of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Having left the Lucknow Super Giants, Rahul wants to start fresh, and what better way to do that than by coming back to the team you had your breakout season with and helped reach the final?

Favourite team? KL Rahul says RCB

In an interview with Star Sports, Rahul was asked which franchise was his favourite. Having represented four teams (Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings, the remaining two) since making his IPL debut in 2013, Rahul easily chose RCB over others.

“I most enjoyed playing at RCB. You get to spend a lot of time at home. I know the Chinnaswamy really well; I have grown up playing there. So, yeah, I really enjoyed playing at RCB,” KL Rahul said.

Would he like to represent RCB once again? Of course, says Rahul instantly, expressing the desire to be back at home. But he realises that the franchise might not either want him or could be outdone by others at the auction table.

“Of course (would you like to be back at RCB?) Bengaluru is home. People there know me as a local Kannada boy. It would be nice to go back there and get an opportunity. But, yeah, it’s an auction year; you can go anywhere,” KL Rahul added.
