It was only last month when the Delhi Capitals (DC) appointed new head coach and Director of Cricket (DOC) in Hemang Badani and Venugopal Rao. And now, they have made one more addition to their coaching staff, welcoming Munaf Patel as their new bowling coach.
Munaf Patel joins Delhi Capitals before IPL 2025 Auction
The former ODI World Cup winner has replaced James Hopes, who was with the franchise since 2018. The Australian, however, has moved to the Punjab Kings (PBKS) alongside head coach Ricky Ponting. Munaf played 63 matches in the IPL, clinching the title in 2013 with the Mumbai Indians (MI). Moreover, Munaf has been associated with DC, having played for their sister franchise in the Legends League Cricket (LLC) with India Capitals.
Following a lackluster performance in the previous season, where they managed only seven wins in 14 games and failed to make the playoffs, Delhi Capitals have undertaken significant changes. In July, the franchise parted ways with head coach Ricky Ponting and his support staff, appointing former Indian cricketer Hemang Badani as his replacement.
Additionally, Venugopal Rao took over as the new Director of Cricket, replacing Sourav Ganguly, who will now lead Delhi’s Women’s Premier League (WPL) team in 2025. In another major move, DC released their star captain Rishabh Pant ahead of the 2025 mega auction, signaling a new era for the team.
